MAAHAD TAHFIZ AL-QUR'AN DAN HADITH AL-ANSORI: A Glimpse At Maahad Tahfiz Al-Ansori

Assalamualaikum,

Maahad Tahfiz Al-Ansori is a school/center for the huffaz, built out of love for ALLAH by Azhari bin Abu Hassan and his wife Nurzahidah binti Hashim. Their children are the first students of this center. In the beginning, they did not intend to open this center to the public. Due to some encouragement and hope by close friends who wanted their kids to become Al hafiz too, they finally accepted the trust, spirit and duty to make it a center for everyone.

Parents voluntarily and willingly send their kids to live full time with this family. There are no advertisements of any kind to promote this center before. By the word of mouth and with the awareness of the importance of knowledge of the Quran and with our slogan of “knowledge is to be searched and not the other way around”, we run the center with no fees and based on infaq from the ummah. The community and parents help us by donating everything they can afford to bear the cost of managing this Maahad. This Maahad is not known to even the local community members because there is no publicity. However, with the word of mouth, people from as far as Sabah and Sarawak and the east coast send their kids here. (those who seek and search for it)

It has been 2 years now since its inception and our center is growing in numbers and supports. However, we are still running it on a full time basis and on infaq by the ummah. When their daughter Nuramirah, age 10 took part in the Al quran Hafaz competition in 2006, our center became known to many as her stories of being able to memorize 30 chapters by heart was published in various newspapers and I Magazine of 2006.

She started at the age of 4 when she was first taught the Tajwid. At 5, she started reciting and 2 years later, she memorized all 30 chapters. She became runners-up in the state competition and was the youngest competitor among those who participated ranging from 15- 20 years old..

Eversince that, the number of students increased and sometimes we had 40 regular students.The night classes reached up to 50 students.

We took the opportunity to hold some programs during the school's holidays season. Participants were asked to stay with us on a full time basis and follow through the curriculum through out their holidays. The idea was to expose the children who took part in this program to the life of their full time friends and the challenges they have to endure and the commitment they have to make and fulfill to become a huffaz./al hafiz.

Now we realize (after 2 years of the program and 10 years of teaching the kids of our qariah), we cannot cater the demand of the growing number of students. We realize that we need to manage this Maahad in our best possible manner for the benefits of the students. We realize that a proper infrastructure is needed. A proper house or condition is highly and timely needed for the kids. We also realize that we need a management team so that this Maahad become a proper organization for smooth running operation, not run by individual like we did any longer. A team was formed recently and we moved to our new location at 21C, Jln Manjoi, Taman Pari 30020 Ipoh Perak. The new location is only 2.5 km from the previous location ( a house Azhari inherited from his parents). Since the move, the cost of managing this center is slowly increasing.
